The German Wife is my seventh novel. Set in Munich before and during WW2, the eponymous 'wife' of the title is Annaliese Vogel - married to Hans, a gentle doctor. Encouraged to join the SS to promote his career, Hans is ordered to Dachau Concentration Camp, where he conducts medical experiments on prisoners. How does a good man who has promised to 'do no harm', deal with the appalling cruelty he is forced to commit for The Fatherland?
